Decentralized naming services act as the fundamental identity layer of Web3. They map complex, human-unreadable cryptographic addresses (like 0x71C...), IPFS website hashes, and metadata to clean, human-readable domain names (like maria.eth). These domains function as cross-chain usernames, decentralized websites, and universal routing profiles. Because domain registries operate as on-chain monopolies over their specific top-level domains (e.g., .eth, ‘.gwei’, ‘.wei’), they generate massive, continuous revenue via time bound registration fees, annual renewals, and secondary market royalties.

Registration & Annual Renewal Surcharge

Definition. Domain protocols charge a baseline, time bound fee (often denominated in ETH or USD equivalents) to register and maintain ownership of a name. A micro-percentage of this continuous, subscription-style renewal fee is programmatically routed to the CaaS rail before the remainder hits the DAO treasury.

Frontend Registration Price Round-Up

Definition. The user-facing registration portal or dApp client applies an optional or governance-approved “round-up” wrapper at checkout. When a user registers or renews a domain, the frontend rounds the total cost up to the nearest dollar or whole decimal equivalent (e.g., rounding $5.42 up to $6.00). The spare change delta is programmatically isolated and routed directly to the CaaS address.

Cost-bearer class. User-borne (paid directly by the registering user as a micro-contribution during checkout).
